Zachary Borquez has been teaching instrumental music at Oak Park High School since 2013, directing the concert bands, string orchestra, jazz bands, marching band, drumline/colorguard, as well as the pit orchestra for the school musicals. In addition, he also runs the theater tech crew for the drama productions, and serves as chair of the Visual and Performing Arts department at OPHS.

Outside of his work in Oak Park, Mr. Borquez serves as a member of the board of directors for the Ventura County Honor Bands, and has also guest coached with the Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra. He is an active participant in the music education profession as a member of the California Band Directors Association, the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association, the California Alliance for Jazz, the California Music Educators Association, as well as the National Association for Music Education.

Mr. Borquez earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of California, Davis, and his Master of Music degree in Conducting from California State University, Northridge, studying with Dr. Lawrence Stoffel. In his musical spare time, Mr. Borquez plays with the Camarillo Community Band during the summertime, occasionally as a guest conductor, as well as with the Ventura British Brass Band.
