*** Youth Strings members MUST return at 4:15 to rehearse Ode to Joy with Prep and Symphony Orchestra members. Prep orchestra members will stay for 15 minutes after their rehearsal to rehearse Ode to Joy.

Arrive with enough time to unpack and tune your instrument, ready to play 5 minutes before rehearsal downbeat.

Concert Dress

Gentlemen: Black Suit, white dress shirt, dark tie, black dress shoes (no tux or bow tie). *Youth Strings no jackets, no ties.

Ladies: Long black FLOOR-LENGTH dress OR black dress pants or black FLOOR-LENGTH dress skirt, black dress top, black dress shoes (jacket optional).

* Please observe the dress code carefully. You will be sent home to change if your concert attire does not meet dress code.


Concert Logistics

Parking

Parking is available in the Civic Arts Plaza Lot or The Lakes shopping area to the east of the plaza.

Arriving

When arriving, please enter through the artist entrance on the side of the building (left side as you face the main entrance). If you haven’t performed at the Kavli before, please arrive with enough time to find your way before the rehearsal and concert.

Instruments

All instruments will be stored backstage during the concert. Musicians can pick up their instruments after the concert is over. After performing, Prep and Youth Strings musicians must pack and close their cases.

Youth Strings Musicians

Concert call time is 5:45, on stage at 5:50. You will be tuned back-stage before the performance. After performing you will have be escorted by our chaperones to the upper balcony to watch the rest of the concert. You must remain in the upper balcony (including during intermission). There will be bathroom breaks. Before the final Symphony Orchestra piece, you will be escorted to the backstage area for Ode to Joy. After the concert, you will meet your family at the backstage entrance in the lobby.

Preparatory Orchestra Musicians

Concert call time is 5:50. After unpacking backstage, please quietly go the the green room for individual tuning. You must be quietly waiting backstage when the concert starts. After performing, you will have be escorted by our chaperones to the upper balcony to watch the rest of the concert. You must remain in the upper balcony (there will be bathroom breaks). Before the final Symphony Orchestra piece, you will be escorted to the backstage area for Ode to Joy. After the concert, you will meet your family at the bottom of the balcony stairs. After the concert, you will meet your family at the backstage entrance in the lobby.

Symphony Orchestra

We recommend coming to rehearsal in concert dress. After rehearsal, you will have a catered dinnerat 5:15 PM. You are welcome to remain at the theater. Call time is 6:45 backstage. You should be tuned and begin taking your place on stage 5 minutes into intermission to warm up. You are dismissed immediately after the concert is over. You may exit through the artist entrance or through the ushers entrance.
